For years Karen was a self taught artist who explored many different mediums from playing and writing music, filling sketch pads, to making stained glass and painting. Eclectic by nature, one interest was not enough. After working in finance for a number of years, she decided to make art and design a full time career and began that journey. Since then she has completed her Bachelor of Design at NSCADU, does freelance graphic design and paints from her home studio
Karen's often minimalist work is explorative in nature, and with every painting she challenges herself to learn something new. She enjoys a generous application of medium, a surface full of textures and surprises and an abundance of rich, luscious colors. She draws much of her inspiration from such artists as Georgia O'Keefe, Gustav Klimpt, Modigliani and Franz Klein.
